2023 WSOP Europe Kicks Off with Victories for Lukas Pazma and Omar Eljach
The long-awaited poker festival, 2023 World Series of Poker Europe, started in Rozvadov. The schedule of the series includes 15 bracelet tournaments, in which 15 million euros will be guaranteed. And the names of the first two winners have already become known.
Slovakian player Lukas Pazma became the first winner of the WSOP Europe bracelet. In the heads-up of Event #1: €350 NLH Opener, he defeated Hungary's Andras Balogh, earning €120,350 in prize money, while Balogh took home €76,350 for second place.
"When I hold chips, I become a formidable opponent. I aggressively leverage them, exerting a lot of pressure," Lukas remarked.
The second tournament of the series was the pot-limit Omaha event with a €550 buy-in. The event gathered 414 entries, and the prize fund amounted to €341,525. The winner of this tournament was none other than the reigning WSOP Europe champion, Omar Eljach. Almost a year ago, Omar won the WSOP Europe Main Event 2022 and earned €1,380,129 in prize money.
And now in the heads-up of the "warm-up" tournament, Eljach overcame the opposition of Diana Volcovschi, a poker player from Portugal. The prize for the victory was €65,900, while the payout for second place was €40,700.
