Australian Poker Open: Michael Watson won Opening Event

Australian Poker Open series started on 25 January and it will last until 2 February. Opening Event with $10 500 buy-in was held as part of championship.

The event collected 59 entries and its prize pool reached the mark of $590 000. Nine poker players entered the prize zone.

The Canadian poker player Michael Watson became the winner of event and he earned $177 000 for the first place.

In heads-up, Watson played against Australian poker pro Michael O'Grady. In the final hand, the Canadian player with pocket ace and queen beat O'Grady who went all-in with an ace and eight. The runner-up of the tournament won $118 000.

Another poker player from Australia Benjamin Shannon finished third and earned $82 600. Such poker players as Orpen Kisacikoglu ($59 000) and Andras Nemeth ($35 400) also entered the prize zone.
