Catch Up with Game of Gold: Highlights from the First 8 Episodes
Over the past 2 weeks, new "Game of Gold" show by GGPoker has become a real big sensation, both in the poker world and beyond. Patrick Leonard stays up at night to watch new releases as soon as they come out (and then make his own dream rosters). Phil Galfond believes that the secret of the show's success is that the producers managed to get the audience to honestly root for the participants. And Fedor Holz is glad that the community finally saw in him a cheerful and cheerful guy, and not just a GTO terminator.
8 episodes out of the planned 12 have already been released, and all of them are available for free viewing on the poker room's official YouTube channel. In the meantime, let's recall the most vivid events that you might have missed (if you are afraid of spoilers, do not read further).
😱 Elimination of the strongest team. At this time, the main surprise of the show is the elimination of the leader team after the first stage, which consisted of real stars: Daniel Negreanu, Jason Koon, Michael Souza and Kevin Martin. In terms of popularity and titles, these names were among the main favorites, but they were the first to be eliminated from the show.

🤬 The Jungleman show. Daniel Cates a.k.a. "Jungleman" became one of the main openings of the show and a fan favorite. And it's not about his poker skills, which everyone was well aware of even before that. Jungleman became a real "main character" of the show. He literally slept through the entire first round, causing a whole wave of memes, and before the start of the second round, Daniel and Johan made a real scandal when they couldn't agree on who should play first.

🙄 Olga Iermolcheva became a real surprise for everyone. The Ukrainian poker player confidently won her stage of the first round, causing real admiration by her rivals and fans from all over the world. Daniel Negreanu was impressed by her performance and began to consider her one of the stronger players in the show. Unfortunately, in the second round, Iermolcheva got into the weakest team, which included streamers Lukas Robinson and Nikita Luther. As a result, Johan Guilbert beat all three in a row in heads-up duels, and sent Olga's team to the survival match.
🤔 Maria Ho knows how to bluff. The eighth series of the show was almost entirely dedicated to Maria Ho, because she confidently defeated all her opponents in heads-up duels. Also in this episode, Maria answered all the skeptics who thought her game was too tight, by making several brilliant bluffs, one of which is against Jungleman himself. The duel with the latter also became interesting thanks to a dialogue between Ho and Cates, in which the Jungleman admitted that he was afraid of women and had never played poker against them.

Among other interesting events, it is worth noting Johan Guilbert, who learned a few words of Ukrainian before the game with Iermolcheva, and Josh Arieh's ability to guess the cards before they came out on the board.
