"Doyle Brunson Day" Celebrated Across the World
In 2023, legendary poker player Doyle Brunson passed away. The starting holding hand of 10-2 is named after him, with which he won the most important tournament in history, the World Series of Poker Main Event, in 1976 and 1977.
If we talk about dates, then the hand 10-2 transforms into the second of October. And this year, on this day, the memory of the great poker player began to be celebrated all over the world.
Offline rooms throughout the US and some online sites joined in and announced symbolic promotions associated with the 10-2 combination. For example, the Lodge Card Club, which is owned by famous poker players, held such an event: every grinder who won a hand with a starter of ten-deuce (and had trips or better) was entered into the raffle. And the prize was an impressive sum of $10,200. There was also a tournament with a $102 buy-in opened for all.
The WPT series in Madrid also rewarded players who won with this hand. The prize was the opportunity to receive a ticket to a prestigious event with a buy-in of $1,100.
In the summer, at the WSOP series in Vegas, much attention was also paid to memories of Doyle. Then his son Todd, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth shared their stories. Also a special episode about the memories of the Godfather of Poker called Celebration of Life was made.
