Germany’s Koray Aldemir wins 2021 WSOP Main Event
2021 World Series of Poker Main Event has finally ended at Rio Casino in Las Vegas, and the champion has been crowned.
We note that the WSOP 2021 Event #67: $10 000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event World Championship had many starting flights. The event collected 6 550 entries, which allowed to form a massive prize pool of $62 011 250.
German poker player Koray Aldemir managed to capture the Main Event. He won his first gold bracelet, as well as the largest payout in his entire poker career, namely $8 000 000.
"After 10 days of poker, especially the last five or six days were all super stressful. Not a lot of sleep, like five hours a day. All those people watching me play. It's not easy. Respect to all the other players too who all played great. Crazy experience," Koray told reporters after winning the Main Event.
The runner-up was George Holmes from the USA, who, despite second place, also got his biggest career prize money in the amount of $4 300 000. In general, each final table participant earned at least $1 million.

The heads-up lasted quite a long time. At one point, Aldemir even lost his chip leadership, although before that moment he had a clear advantage over his opponents.
And yet, in the final hand, Koray caught two pair on a 10♥-7♠-2♥ flop, holding 10♦-7♦. The turn brought K♠, and the German continued to profit from his opponent. After 9♣ appeared on the river, Aldemir forced Holmes to move all-in to happily call it. Koray became the Main Event winner, of course. Matters could not be otherwise.
In total, 1 000 players entered the ITM zone; the lowest payout accounted for $15 000.
