Head-Butting Incident Sees Player Expelled from EPT Prague Main Event
The main event of the European Poker Tour series in Prague started quite well – the €5,300 tournament has already gathered more than 1,200 entries. But the participants of the event will especially remember day 1b, during which there were two knockouts in a row: one at the poker table, and the other after a headbutt to the nose.
The action began in a hand between the Italian Michele Nizzardelli and the Swedish player Ghattas Kortas. The latter lost a coinflip with a pocket tens against AK and was very offended by the Italian, getting kicked out of the tournament.
Leaving the table, Kortas knocked off Nizzardelli's hat and went to the exit. In turn, the Italian pushed the opponent in the back. After this "3-bet", the players looked each other in the eye for a while, until Michele "went all-in" – the man hit the Swede with his head right in the nose.
Ghattas Kortas is a fan of knocking hats off Italians.
After the hit, Kortas found himself on the floor, confusedly asking the other players how his nose was doing. Security was called and Nizzardelli was escorted out of the tournament hall, ending the main action of day 1b.
It was quite expected that the resident of Italy was disqualified from the tournament. It is not yet known what consequences await him after this epic "double knockout" at the EPT.
