Istvan Briski Triumphs in WPT Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open Main Event

WPT Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open main event champion 2023

In the USA, almost everything is ready for the start of one of the main events of the year – the WPT World Championship 2023. As part of this series, there will be held such prestigious events as the Women's Poker Championship (which may become the largest in history), the Big One for One Drop with $1,000,000 buy-in (where 14 players have already registered) and the main dish on the menu is the WPT World Championship tournament itself, the guaranteed prize pool of which is a record $40,000,000.

But before the start of this grand event, the Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open festival was held as part of the WPT Tour. And it is interesting that all the the main winners of this festival were players from Europe. The Hungarian Istvan Briski, who became the winner of the $3,500 Main Event tournament, managed to win this prestigious title on American soil.

"It’s amazing to be a WPT Champion. I ran really well in the tournament. I made it all the way and I’m very happy," commented Briski immediately after his win.

The event drew a field of 1,447 players, most of whom were local players. But the heads-up title was contested by the visitors of the country. Istvan Briski defeated the player from Lebanon, Rayan Chamas. The prize for the victory was $647,300, and in general, the results of the final table are as follows:

3Sandy SanchezUSA$366,500
4Fred GoldbergUSA$274,000
5Matt BondUSA$206,900

Interestingly, in the final heads-up, the players agreed on a deal and divided the prize money almost equally. After that they played for the title and cup. Deals at the final tables are not typical for WPT tournaments, and at some point they were even prohibited.
