Jason Koon Claimed his Seventh Win at Triton Poker
At the Triton Poker series, the Main Event ended and it was very emotional. Jason Koon could not hold back the tears after his victory. Thanks to the first place in the ME, Koon will most likely become the winner of the overall leaderboard of the series:
«I was here a little under a year ago when we lost Ivan. Ivan was a good friend of mine. And walking through these halls every day I feel a little bit emotional about that. Just the title of Player of the Year, it gets me emotional. I miss the guy», – Koon said after the end of the event.
In total, the $100,000 Main Event with a prize pool of $10,100,000 attracted 101 entries. At the start of the final table, Koon was not among the favorites as he was eighth in the stack. But over time, he was able to turn things around and in heads-up against Greenwood he had a 4 to 1 stack advantage.
The finalists decided to make a deal, split on the ICM basis and continue the fight for the cup with an additional $84,000 for the winner. The final hand of the tournament followed almost immediately, with Koon's Q-10 proving stronger than Greenwood's A-K. Sam had 6 outs to win, but a seven on the river was a winning one for Jason.
