Joao happily gave an interview after winning the tournament. He told journalists that he had been developing his live reads for a long time and this helped him become the winner:

«I found a call based on all the hard work I have done over the past four years».

Joe Cada started heads-up as a chip leader, but soon began gradually losing his stack. In the final hand of the event, his A-Q could not beat Vieira’s K-J. Cada received $468 000 for the second place, and the Portuguese won his first WSOP bracelet.
