Latvian Poker Star Aleksejs Ponakovs Dominates in Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open High Roller Event
The luxurious Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino hosted the 2023 WPT Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open, with Hungarian professional Istvan Briski winning the main event. And another prestigious tournament in this series – the $25,500 high roller event – was won by a representative and one of the most famous players from another European country, Latvia. It was Aleksejs Ponakovs.
Aleksejs has two World Series gold bracelets to his name. He also ranks first among all Latvian representatives in offline winnings. According to HendonMob, his tournament prize money is close to fifteen million dollars.
This year Aleksejs constantly appears at expensive tournaments and demonstrates excellent results. He has also already confirmed his participation in the prestigious Big One for One Drop in December with such stars as Phil Ivey and Jason Koon.
Along with the title, the Latvian received $682,238. This is already the eighth title won in the career of Ponyakovs. A total of 93 players took part in the tournament, and the results of the final table were as follows:
