Negreanu suggests changing the WSOP POY points system
The other day, a well-known poker legend, Daniel Negreanu, was stripped of the 2019 WSOP Player of the Year title due to an error in the calculation of points. KidPoker was mistakenly awarded 213 extra points in one of the events he didn't cash in. The WSOP representatives acknowledged their mistake, having bestowed the title on the Australian player Robert Campbell.

Nevertheless, Negreanu proposed that the criteria of awarding points in the POY rating should be changed even before this error was detected. The guy posting the following ideas on his Twitter page:

Limit cashes that count to 12
Make min cashes worth close to nothing
Increase points for top 27 finishes
Increase points for final tables
Decrease points for WSOP main event final table
Quality over Quantity
In small events, players can get as many points as in large ones. This fact gives an advantage to poker professionals who are chasing ratings and titles, because they don’t need to earn big prize money. Because of this system, it’s very difficult to see «new faces» in the given rating.
