Roberto Romanello wins WPT Montreal High Roller
A few weeks ago, Roberto Romanello along with Philipp Gruissem, Ludovic Geilich, and Anatoly Filatov left the Team partypoker. However, this does not prevent Romanello from playing poker tournaments on PartyPoker. The other day, he managed to win the WPT Montreal High Roller worth $5 200.
The event gathered 64 entries; the participants fought for their share of the $320 000 prize pool. The following famous poker professionals left the tournament shortly before the final table was formed:
- Mikita Badziakouski (10th place and $11 000)
- Ole Schemion (9th place and $12 000)
- Stephen Chidwick (8th place and $12 000)
Laurynas Levinskas was the first to leave the final table. His result was fifth place and $21 000 in prize money. He was followed by the once most profitable poker player in the world – Justin Bonomo. Justin finished the event in fourth place and earned $27 000.
After Aleksei Barkov's departure from the game, Roberto Romanello and the ME SCOOP 2020 champion Aliaksandr Hirs decided to make a deal. The poker players divided the remaining prize money according to ICM.
Then, Romanello and Hirs continued to fight to determine the winner. Roberto turned out to be stronger that evening. For his victory, the former PartyPoker ambassador received $84 000, while his opponent took a $71 000 payout.
