Stephen Chidwick Became the Best Player of the Poker Masters 2023
The prestigious Poker Masters 2023 series ended in Las Vegas. And it ended in a rather unexpected way. Despite the confident leadership in the general standings of the Lithuanian Vladas Tamasauskas, which he seized from the start of the series, the main trophy – the Purple Jacket – did not go to him at all.
Stephen Chidwick made it to a heads-up in the tenth and final tournament of the series against Jonathan Jaffe and, despite losing the deciding hand of the tournament, scored enough points to claim the coveted trophy. It is worth noting that at the final table of the final tournament, four players had mathematical chances to become the best poker player of the series. They were: Chidwick, Brian Kim, Alex Foxen and Chino Rheem. But it was the British who won.
And as for Tamasauskas, he took the final second place in the leaderboard of the series, because he could not get into the prizes of the final tournament and thus did not score a single point. But he should be comforted by two victories in the Poker Masters tournaments, which brought him the best result in his career, $448,200 in prize money.
By the way, the Lithuanian impressed everyone with his results during this series. Vladas was able to reach the final tables three times in a row in events with different buy-ins. And he almost made it a hat-trick, he managed to get two titles in those three attempts.
