Stephen Chidwick Prevails in Event 8 of the 2023 Poker Masters

Stephen Chidwick tops Poker Masters event

Stephen Chidwick proved once again that he deservedly got the 2022 Player of the Year title as he won the $25,000 Poker Masters 2023 event №8 in dominant fashion. The 34-year-old Brit entered the final day with a stack of 60 percent of all chips in play and used that advantage masterfully. It took him just over an hour and a half to turn his early day lead into the title, making four out of five final table knockouts in the process. This earned him the trophy and the top prize of $400,000.

Interestingly, Steve was the only British representative at the final table, and he was up against as many as five American professionals.

This is Chidwick's 41st tournament title in his career. He now has more than $52.4 million in lifetime winnings, the third most of any poker player in the world. Only Bryn Kenney ($65,284,256) and Justin Bonomo ($64,106,800) have more.

Chidwick also won the "Player of the Year" award twice, in 2019 and 2022. In 2023, he is again among the contenders for this title. This year, he has already made 19 final table appearances and got five titles. Brit has 7,370 POY points, which puts him in sixth place on the current leaderboard. Bin Weng is currently in first place (9,198 points).

The win also moved Chidwick into the top five in the race for the Purple Jacket of the Poker Masters Player of the Year.
