The 16th Super High Roller Bowl Tournament Started in Las Vegas
The sixteenth edition of the Super High Roller Bowl kicked off in Las Vegas. Although this tournament has a relatively short history, it has quickly become a must-attend on the calendars of high-stakes poker players. To date, seven editions of this event have been held in Las Vegas, seven outside the United States, including London and Australia's Gold Coast, and once the tournament was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Justin Bonomo holds the most Super High Roller Bowl wins with three championship rings. The current champion is Daniel Negreanu. The Canadian poker player won the title last October, defeating Nick Petrangelo heads-up.
The entry fee for the tournament is $300,000 and this year, contrary to the tradition of unlimited re-entries, the SHRB organizers chose the Freezout format.
As a result, 20 players sat down to play at the table (for comparison, SHRB collected 24 entries in 2022; 21 entries in 2021). The result of such a turnout is four prize places. The minimum prize will be $600,000. The winner will receive $2,760,000.
According to the results of Day 1, 12 players remained in the tournament and will continue to fight for the main prize. The chip leader among those left is Nick Petrangelo, who has a stack of 148 BB. He is followed by Andrew Lichtenberger (135 BB) and Isaac Haxton (107 BB). Last year's Super High Roller Bowl winner Daniel Negreanu (70 BB) and Poker Masters best player Stephen Chidwick (67 BB) also remained in the game. Kristen Foxen also stays in the race for a title, as her husband Alex was eliminated at the end of the first day of play. The tournament will last until September 30.
