Two New Experts Join the UKGC’s Safer Gambling Advisory Board
The UK Gambling Commission, better known by its acronym UKGC, has announced that it has been strengthened by the appointment of two professional experts. The experts have joined the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling (ABSG), and they can be described as those who bring significant international experience to the organization.
Dr. Spencer Murch and Dr. Virve Marionneau will focus on a specific mission – they will provide independent advice on gambling-related harm.
Dr. Murch is a successful cognitive psychologist from the University of Calgary, and his specialization is the cognitive and behavioral aspects of gambling addiction. He also studies the role of artificial intelligence associated with digital gambling.
Dr. Marionneau is the Director of the Center for Research on Addiction at the University of Helsinki. Her specialization is gambling regulations and digital environments.
Both experts will bring valuable insights to the board, which in turn enhances the UKGC's regulatory strategies and policies.
ABSG Chair, Anna van der Gaag, expressed her enthusiasm for the new appointments, highlighting the importance of their international expertise in addressing global gambling challenges.
