Two UK Regs Are Fighting for the Championship in the NPL Ranking
Throughout the year, poker players actively fight for positions in the prestigious leaderboard of the National Poker League (NPL). And this struggle is completely justified because the one who manages to get ahead of all competitors can count on a really cool prize – a sponsorship package of £75,000 for the next year, that is, for 2025.
This race can also be called the chase for the Grosvenor Casinos Player of the Year title. Interestingly, both players who currently occupy the top positions – Matthew Davenport and Callum Gordon – are representatives of England, they can be seen quite often at the tables in live games.
Davenport already won the NPL title in 2022 and is determined to repeat his success. He has been showing good results throughout 2024. It all started with a second place in the £1,650 GUKPT Manchester High Roller tournament, and after that, Matthew added as many as 23 final table appearances to his successes.
Speaking of Gordon, he also has a solid second place – in the £1,250 GUKPT Blackpool Main Event. Callum also managed to get into the money in 50 events that fall under the qualification.
And in third place in the rankings you can see the current champion Calogero Morreale, who conquered this title last year. It is worth noting that not only will the first place receive a large financial prize, but players in 2-3 places can also count on prize packages of £30,000.
Here is how things stand in the rankings now:
Position | Name | Points |
---|---|---|
1 | Matthew Davenport | 760.3 |
2 | Callum Gordon | 758.56 |
3 | Calogero Morreale | 683.1 |
