«It seems unreal. I mean there is so much luck in a poker tournament. I think I played well, but there were so many hands where I just got lucky. You need that much luck to win any poker tournament. In this event, there were three or four hands where I got my outs. And I just felt like maybe my time has come. Whether due to the fact that I spent almost 20 years on this, or because of something else, but the feeling is incredible», – commented Daniel after the win.
The runner-up of the event was also US poker player Stephen Jones, who earned $6,500,000 for the second place. In the final hand, he opened with jack-eight offsuit (J♣8♦) and was called by Weinman with king-jack offsuit (K♣J♦). The flop came out J♠ 5♠ 2♦. Jones continued to bet and Weinman made a huge check-raise which was called by his opponent, and the 4♣ came on the turn. Weinman started raising, but his opponent decided to go all-in. Daniel made a call and the river came A♥, which made him the WSOP ME 2023 champion. In total, 1,507 players made it to the tournament payouts with a minimum payout of $15,000.
