WPN found a new way to fight against poker bots

Poker bots

WPN CEO Phil Nagy stated that their security team made a new discovery that allows them to understand how the poker bots work.

Phil said that the basis of a new strategy is built on updates of the graphics. It turned out that some bots use screenshots for data analysis in real time.

“Our security teams discovered that both commercial and private bots process the information at a poker table (what cards they have, what position the bot is in etc.) by reading the graphical pixels”.

In that regard, WPN security team developed the new ways to stop the bots.

The constantly changing font doesn’t allow bots to read the pixels and make decisions. Over the recent period, in the poker rooms of WPN network, including Americas Cardroom, where complaints concerning the poker bots arose, 4 graphical updates were implemented. These updates forced the unfair players to reconfigure their bot accounts.

After graphical updates, the security team monitored the activity of game accounts. The players, who significantly decreased the volume of play after the updates, were blocked for further investigation. Thus, WPN security service managed to find 46 bots and confiscated from their accounts $450 000. These funds were distributed among the affected players.
