WPT Honors Female Poker Players with $250K Ladies Championship in December
The World Poker Tour once again emphasizes the importance of women at the poker tables – the organizers of the popular series announced the WPT Ladies Championship with a guarantee of $250,000. The event will take place from December 6 to 8 as part of the next stage of the series at the Wynn Las Vegas casino.
The buy-in for the women's tournament will be $1,100. The final table will be broadcast live on WPT channels.
"We greatly appreciate the incredible support of the female poker players who participated in last year's Women's Championship and look forward to an even bigger tournament this year," said WPT CEO Adam Pliska.
This was the first such event and it brought together almost 600 participants from all over the world and $560,660 in prize money. Lina Niu became the winner, taking home $105,136 along with the title. Ukrainian poker star Olga Iermolcheva (who now participates in GGPoker's Game of Gold show) took second place in the long and interesting heads-up battle.
Also, the charming participants of the event will be able to win additional gifts in the accompanying events, including a raffle of prize packages and tickets to WPT Prime as part of the Ladies Mimosa MUG.
Short after the women's competition, the grand WPT World Championship with a record guarantee of $40,000,000 will start at the Wynn casino, in which a lot of star participants have already confirmed their participation.
