BANKROLL BUILDING = IMAGINE IT IS LIKE BUILDING YOUR OWN PERSONAL CASTLE

Welcome all to an added bonus post for the month while I’ve been reflecting on one thing I feel is crucial to poker success; bankroll building.  It is something I’ve mentioned a lot of times before, but to me starting with a good bankroll is like putting down the foundations of your castle and building your castle onto these foundations.  If you don’t have a good start up bankroll, then it makes it very difficult to do well in poker.  Of course we all know that if the foundations are not strong then it is likely the castle will crumble or fall down later.  So why not create the foundations as strong as possible?  

Added to this, if you do not have the skills to even defend you own castle and lack knowledge these can also be the causes of your own destruction: playing poker is no different.  They say that the definition of madness is ‘doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results’ which may be true, but what I’ve also heard is that ‘a fool can make the same mistakes over and over and eventually become wise’ and I would also agree with this statement too.  I see players making the same patterns of play and the same mistakes over and over again.  And I, I have decided, can use this knowledge to help me build my bankroll. 

Why not give yourself a fighting chance to win big in poker?  If you start with building strong foundations to your castle, AKA first deposited bankroll, then you will be in with a much bigger fighting chance to do much better in order to win. Remember in gambling, the courageous are the ones who are rewarded the greatest.  So just like in poker, going back to my castle comparison, it doesn’t make sense to have a castle with weak walls as it wouldn’t keep out any enemies attacking.  You require strong walls.  

So the pillars of your (poker game) castle are the amount of money you deposit, your knowledge (what you do with it) and the experience you have in dealing with a number of situations.  If you have a short supply in any of these three areas, you will be doomed to fail.  Period.

TOOK A HIT TO MY CASTLE...WHY OH WHY? (I am STILL my own worst enemy)

I am still a fool because I still persist with wasting well earns dollars on football betting even while I begin to get into my poker playing groove.  Last night I required just Mo Salah of Liverpool to score against Tottenham to win £340 pounds from a total £20 stake.  The worst thing?  He did score and it was only the ball bouncing accidentally onto Roberto Firmino’s hand that prevented the strikers goal from counting.  What a disappointment!  VAR...VAR...

So once again, I am back to square one again, and I know that if I only play poker I will do well in the long term.  Can I retreat inside the walls and with patience build a castle of significant proportions? We will have to wait and see.  One thing for sure though, is that my foundations are much stronger when I first began playing this game. Knowledge = power.  Bankroll = strength.  Experience = confidence.
