Doyle Brunson truly deserves to be called a legend of world poker. He was among the few representatives of the first generation of professional players who could still be met at the poker table at a respectable age.

In the arsenal of Doyle, there are a lot of prestigious titles. He is still regarded as the most significant figure in the poker world. "The Godfather" won 10 WSOP bracelets and became one of the few people to win the WSOP Main Event more than once (in 1976 and 1977).
Brunson’s books have become another important contribution to the game. The most famous of them is “Supersystem” (1978), which is also called the Poker Bible.
In 1988, Brunson deservedly entered the famous Poker Hall of Fame.

The overall career of this legendary person has lasted for around 60 years, but Doyle wasn’t very active after 2011. After a few years, Brunson decided to finish his career. Despite this decision, he took part in the Master of Ceremonies Invitational. It was in 2018 when he was 5th in the leaderboard.
Doyle Brunson was 89 when he passed away in 2023. The organisers of the 2023 WSOP decided to honour his memory with a farewell speech. For this purpose, Negreanu, Hellmuth, and other famous poker players were invited.

- The 10-2 hand is often called “Brunson’s Hand” in honour of Doyle. Having these pocket cards, the player beat his opponents in the final hands of the WSOP for two years in a row. This is how he got the first 2 bracelets.
- Doyle took part in many poker shows and even had episodic roles in «The Grand» and «Lucky You».
- Doyle had serious health problems. He has been repeatedly found to have tumours, but, despite the disappointing forecasts of doctors, he manages to deal with them.

- In 2018 (at the WSOP), Doyle Brunson announced that he was playing his last tournament at the World Series of Poker. Many people perceived this information as a statement about “retirement." Later, Doyle clarified that he would continue playing poker, and it was just “maybe his last tournament,” that’s all. Brunson took 6th place that year and won a little more than $43 000.

- Doyle announced about becoming a great-grandfather. His grandson was born in December 2018.
- Todd and Pamela Brunson took after their father and became professional poker players. Todd got the WSOP bracelet in 2005, whilst Pamela acquired it two years later. So, the family became the first and unique one where both the father and children were WSOP bracelet holders.
