A Strong Hand Means Nothing If Your Face Exposes It

Have you played a live poker tournament before....?

I'm not actually supposed to be giving this advice cause I myself haven't played in one but I've practiced poker faces even behind my camera.

There's one thing people ignore during live poker tournament — the face says more than your cards.

That part of the game requires practice, especially those that don't know how to hide their emotions. Trying to stay calm no matter what hand they hold can be a big feat.

You hit a strong hand and naturally you want to react. Sometimes behind the camera, if I'm dealth with pocket A/K/J or any strong hand combination, I smile because no one is looking. But at a live poker tournament, that smile already told the board "I have a stronger hand".

Even something as small as hesitating, or looking too confident can give people information.

The best thing is to just maintain a blank facial expression, even when you have strong hands or you already know you're winning at the turn or river.

One other important aspect you should know is that poker face isn’t just about looking serious.

Sometimes the best players at the table look relaxed, casual, even uninterested. Meanwhile, they’re reading everything happening around them.

The best thing is to find what works best for you.
