High Rake Fees Is Slowly Killing the Poker Experience
Saw a Video From Jon Orlando in support of the WSOP rake saying it doesn't really matter.
If you don’t know him, he is a Popular Podcaster and a Poker player currently playing in the WSOP Tournament.
Back on the topic, I'm curious about you guys thought;
Whenever rake and tournament registration fees come up, there are always players who say, "It's only a few dollars, it doesn't really matter."
But I think it matters more than people realize.
Every extra dollar taken in rake or fees is money that leaves the poker ecosystem. That's money that isn't being won back by players, isn't being redistributed through prize pools, and isn't staying on the tables.
For professional players, it cuts into profits.
For recreational players, it makes the game more expensive to enjoy.
The thing is, most casual players don't feel it immediately. It's not like losing a huge pot where the impact is obvious. Instead, it slowly adds up over weeks and months until one day you realize you've spent far more than expected.
And that's where the problem starts.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always felt that a healthy poker ecosystem is one where players get as much value as possible from the money they put in.
