Important question for poker players from the UK
Hello everyone!
As many of you know, the Cardmates team is currently putting a lot of effort into organising freerolls and private tournaments for our community. What we are particularly interested in is running private and exclusive tournaments for users who have achieved certain statuses on the site. To be clear, these wouldn’t be simple password tournaments. Instead, tickets would be credited only to users who hold a specific status.
The idea is to create our own atmosphere at the tables, where you’re competing mainly with active members of the Cardmates community rather than anyone who happens to have a password. This should result in smaller fields and a more familiar community vibe. It would also allow us to run things like seasonal leaderboards, cups, and other community competitions. However, at the moment our communication with GGPoker has been a bit strained due to rather unresponsive management on their side. I want to stress that this doesn’t mean the tournaments on GGPoker will be cancelled - not at all. They will continue as usual. That said, we now have an opportunity to set up additional private status tournaments on Unibet Poker. So my question to UK players is the following: What do you think of the Unibet poker room overall? Do you like it as a platform? And would you be interested in having additional status-based tournaments on Unibet Poker?

Sounds like a great idea, especially the part about smaller fields and mostly active community members - that would make the games feel much more personal. I haven’t played much on Unibet, but I’d definitely be interested in status-based tournaments there if it helps keep the community vibe going. 😉
Hi, I’m actually just thinking about starting to play tournaments. Would a beginner have anything to do in these games, or is the level already quite tough?
Hi, I think the level is pretty similar for everyone right now, because to get a ticket you only need to write one blog post. So players of different skill levels are joining the games.
I do not have an account or played on Unibet but I would be interested in taking a look. If CardMates are confident in Unibet!
We’re absolutely confident in Unibet as a reliable poker room. As for how they’ll perform as the host for our private tournaments, that’s something we’ll only be able to judge once we’ve tried it in practice.
I do not have an account on Unibet either. But wouldnt mind signing up if there are tourneys hosted there. The last tourney on 888 was supposed to be UK only, but seems like the password as leaked and there were people from all around. GG has a ticketing system to ensure only ticket holders enter. Does Unibet have something similar?
We’ve already spoken with 888 about that issue, so hopefully the next freeroll will be restricted to UK players only. As for Unibet Poker - yes, it works exactly as you described. They use a ticket-based system similar to GGPoker, meaning only players who receive a ticket will be able to register. In our case, those tickets would go exclusively to users who have a status on the Cardmates site.

It sounds like I am not the only one who doesn’t have a Unibet account. If you’re doing a deal for a private tournament. Will you have a deal for sign ups and a Link ?
Of course there will be - just a bit later once everything is sorted.
I will hold off on signing up, I would rather Cardmates get the sign up numbers up !
