Knicks Take a 2-0 Finals Lead – Why I’m Looking at the Spurs for Game 3

What an absolute heart-attack of a game last night. If you went to sleep early thinking the New York Knicks were just going to coast to an easy 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals after leading early, you missed an absolute classic. The Knicks escaped with a 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs, moving within just two wins of breaking their legendary 53-year championship drought.

Karl-Anthony Towns looked like the MVP early on, dropping 21 points and grabbing 13 boards. But the second KAT got into heavy trouble with his third and fourth fouls, he had to sit. That’s when the Victor Wembanyama show officially took over.

Wemby went on an absolute tear, racking up a game-high 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He almost won the game at the buzzer with a massive shot that just rattled out.

My Game 3 Betting Angle

History says the Knicks are locks, no team in NBA history has ever lost the first two games of the Finals at home and come back to win the title. Plus, New York is riding a massive 13-game playoff win streak. Because of that, the public is going to blindly hammer the Knicks moneyline and spread for Game 3 when the series shifts to Madison Square Garden on June 9.

Here Is The Play: Do not buy into the hype train just yet. The Spurs proved they can exploit the Knicks the second New York’s frontcourt gets into foul trouble. The point spread for Game 3 is going to be inflated because of public bias toward the Knicks. I'm looking at taking San Antonio with the points on the road. Wembanyama is only getting more comfortable on the Finals stage, and backing him to cover a wide spread is where the value lies.
