At one time I fired the flop. The turn looked perfect for another bluff, so I pulled the trigger again. My opponent called. The river changed nothing, but I convinced myself that one more shove had to work.

It didn't.

Only later did I realize the mistake wasn't the bluff it was refusing to accept that the story had already ended. By calling the turn, my opponent had already shown strength. I wasn't applying pressure anymore; I was donating chips.

Poker mastery isn't about winning every pot. It's about recognizing when your edge has disappeared and having the discipline to move on.
