Molly’s Game – Watched It Yesterday…

I watched Molly's Game yesterday and, as a film, I enjoyed it. It’s sharp, quick and Jessica Chastain is brilliant in the lead role.

But from a poker player’s point of view? It’s nothing like real poker.

Every hand feels dramatic and explosive. In reality, poker is patient, calculated and honestly quite boring to watch if you don’t understand it. It’s discipline, small edges and plenty of folding — not constant all-ins and ego battles.

Good drama but does anybody have any poker films they watched and enjoyed 😉 👍

Yeah, Molly’s Game is great cinema, but it definitely romanticises it a bit. If you haven’t seen Rounders, that’s the classic - still probably the most “real” poker film in terms of mindset and grind. Also enjoyed Mississippi Grind - less about hands, more about the psychology and the swings, which feels closer to the truth.
