Monday Reset: How I’m Planning My Poker Week

It's the new week Cardmates....

Mondays always hit different when you've been playing poker for years. As a poker player, you don't just jump into games at the start of a week, uou have to make a plan or you learn the hard way that a bad week usually start with a bad plan or no plan at all. There are weeks I ran good but still ended up bad cause I played recklessly and there are also weeks where I barely won anything but I knew I played solid.

So these days I take Mondays very seriously, which you should too.

The first I do is look back at the decision I made last week, not just the money. Did I force spots? Did I bluff too much? Did I chase Losses. These are the questions I ask myself cause If I don't fix it, they follow me into the next week.

Once I've been honest with myself, I set a new tone for the week.

It always start with my bankroll. I sit down and think, how much can I comfortably play with this week without putting too much pressure on myself. This is very important cause the moment I start feeling like I need to win, my game play changes.

I start pushing and calling hands I'm supposed to fold and that's where the most damage is done. So I pick stakes that allows me to breathe. Where I can actually think clearly instead of worrying about every chip.

Then I decide when I'm actually going to play. This is something I used to ignore. I’d just hop into games anytime I felt like it , sometimes tired or even distracted. And unsurprisingly, those were my worst sessions.

Now, I’m more intentional.

I play when I’m sharp. When I can focus. This sometimes means fewer sessions, but better. I’d rather play two solid hours than five sloppy ones.

One more important thing I take very important is reviewing past hands. if you’re only playing and never reviewing, you’ll just keep repeating mistakes.

So during the week, I take time even if it’s just a little to go over bad hands. Not everything, just key spots. The ones where I hesitated or second-guessed myself.

That’s where the real improvement comes from.

Once I do all of these consistently, the results usually take care of themselves over time.

The plan for this week is in place already.... time to go crush those tables.

Do you have a plan set this week, let's hear it ?

It's so true that playing shorter, sharper sessions beats sloppy hours every time, and your focus on reviewing key spots is where the real growth happens! 📈

Nice blog, keep it up!
