My Second Favourite Lifted The World Cup
Spain are officially the 2026 FIFA World Cup Champions after a grueling, high-stakes 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina yesterday at MetLife Stadium.
It was an absolute thriller that went right down to the wire. Argentina went down to 10 men late in regulation after Enzo Fernández saw red, but they dug in defensively to push the game into extra time. The breakthrough finally came in the 106th minute when substitute Ferran Torres pounced on a loose ball in the box and smashed it into the back of the net to seal Spain's second-ever World Cup title!
To top off the historic night, midfield maestro Rodri took home the tournament's Golden Ball as the best player, while Unai Simón claimed the Golden Glove. Absolute football royalty
But I think my favourite part is the fact that Messi didn't win it, yes I had a schadenfreude 😂

We see Spain like 2012 year. Total control the ball;) great team.
Great team, lovely match, they really both gave us a show
The game was epic... they really outplayed Argentina
As an England supporter I was ok with losing to Argentina, the England team made a bad decision playing defensively and it cost them a spot in the final against a team that play excellent offensive football. .. What I did not like was it being used as a platform for politics over the Malvinas / Falkland isles that have been under British rule since 1765, they took a vote and the majority of people there wanted to stay part of the UK. A lot of British soldiers lost their lives fighting for it in 1982, not just Argentinian soldiers. In the profound possibility the USA lost to Vietnam at football and they had done something similar, all hell would have broken lose. Sport is not a place for this, so I was glad they lost in the final and the way they behaved after losing was disgusting imho. Kudos to Spain and yes, I also had schadenfreude feelings.
England all the way for me but i was dissapointed with the result
Ive lost all respect for Messi and Argentina for the way the played and the way the refs handled the matches. Anyone with 2 eyes could see through the favouritism. If there was an official tally of the money the bookies made, it would explain why Argentina lost.
As an Argentine Supporter I agree with you well deserved by Spain
