One Poker Hand I'd Definitely Play Differently Today

Nobody is ever an expert when it comes to poker....

Even the professional poker players still make mistakes and are still learning everytime.

I've had my share in bad sessions when it comes to poker and one of them is when I had A♠ K♥ in a cash game.

The flop - K◆ 8♣ 5♠

The turn - 2♥

The river - 9♣

Naturally, I raised before the flop and got called by two opponents. When the flop showed I was comfortable I had something strong and kept firing on my bets not knowing one of my oppponent had two pairs of K and 9 at the river.

Unfortunately I lost the hand and I realised my biggest mistake wasn't necessarily betting the flop or turn. It was failing to be patient and properly evaluate the situation on the river.

If I'm dealth with the same hand, I'd pay much closer attention to my opponent's actions so as not to repeat the same mistake.

How poignant, I got done by the big chair today because I didn't raise my ace's trying to be clever and trap an extra player in a pot. Board came K 6 5 big blind bets, I'm evil grinning away thinking you hit bottom or middle pair, limp alon as does the other caller, turn comes a 9, they min raise again, I hit the "their bottom pair may be straight drawing" panic button and ship, they call with 5 6 off no ace or paired board on the river, fuming at my own mistake.
