Pocket 8s vs Pocket 10s… One of my memorable gaming experience.

Poker has a way of surprising you when you least expect it!

This was a freeroll poker tournament a month ago and I was dealth with pocket 8s.... my opponents called all in even befor the flop.

At first I was skeptical about it, thinking of what could they have to make such bold move. I was about to fold but I just decided to take a leap of faith

When I saw what they were holding I instantly became scared, most especially the opponent with pocket 10s.

Then the flop came with 8 and a wave of relief hit me thinking I already beat my opponents.

But when the turn came with a 10, I hated myself for going all in with the Pocket 8s. Just as I was about to exit the game, the river came with an 8 again and that was when I knew poker can be crazy sometimes.

I beat my opponents with four of a kind, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

This was one gaming experience I can't forget.

Wow you really sucked out the table there, in a 3 way pot your equity was 18.2%, 0.4% for the tie. The worse of the 3 the flush draw overcard had 26.0% with the tie and the over pair to you had a massive 55.4%.

I won a pot with pocket 8's a week or so back will try to dig it out, they also made quads but I had limped in to the pot set mining, calmly checked when two 8's hit the board and then fell off my couch when the table bully fired all-in, couldn't believe my luck. I'll add it if I can find it.

Here ya go, how to set mine. Limp from UTG, whole table folds because of your 20% VPIP and the fact you limped from UTG, a show of strength more than a raise from UTG, when not coming from a fish that limps every pot ;)

Bluffy McFish in the BB plays a lot of flops and celebrates his bad beats like he made a pro play. Anyhoo the flop comes and I don't even need to strategise how to get all this fools chips in, they insta shove....

I insta call, my only regret, that I didn't have more chips to extract this fools full stack and take their soul! They showdown 10 Jack, cruise control drawing dead, a pair of 9's I have to sweat it, a straight flush draw I have to sweat too, but a fool hunting a straight against quads, that's 100% the minute the cards turned. I was honestly surprised they even had 10 J TBH was expecting they'd shoved with some random 9 they had in the big blind but no, all in on a straight draw with a board that screams, trips, full house or quads!

That is a hand I am proud of, I am not trying to be mean or belittle your hand, but it was played incorrectly and rewarded by bad variance. I hope this helps you better understand how to play a tier 2 pair in future. Apologies for the delay took a while to find I played it 16 days ago.

Who gave you a negative.  I always play pocket 8s. They win more than kk alot of times. But watch the previous hands . If you have had face card flops 3 in a row. The chance of hitting a mid or low set of trips is high. Bad beat for pocket 10s. But that's poker.

Pocket 8s have failed me more that once though.... that was why I hesitated at first

If an 8 didn’t show up at the river, I would have lost the pot already.
