Pocket Aces… Do You Go Big or Play It Smart?
There’s no better feeling in poker than looking down at your cards and seeing it…
A♠ A♦
Pocket Aces.
The strongest starting hand in poker.
But here’s the real question:
My Strategy Approach
A lot of players get excited when they see AA and that’s where mistakes begin.
Overplaying it.
Going all-in too early.
Scaring everyone away.
For me, I take a different route.
I stay calm.
No eмоtions. No rush.
Instead of trying to win a small pot quickly, I focus on building value.
➙ Why I Don’t Always Go Big Immediately
With a hand like AA, you want action.
If you raise too aggressively, everyone folds. You win but very little.
So sometimes, I strategically raise the blinds just enough to keep weaker hands in and invite more players into the pot. Because AA isn’t just about winning…
It’s about winning big.
The Risk Behind It
Of course, there’s a trade-off.
The more players in the hand, the higher the chance someone hits something unexpected and the more dangerous the board can become
That’s why post-flop play becomes critical.
You need to:
• Read the board carefully
• Adjust your aggression
• Know when to slow down
➙ Example Scenario
You raise small pre-flop with A♠ A♦
3 players call.
Flop comes:
J♣ 8♠ 5♦
This is a good board for you.
All you need to do now is to start building the pot and Apply pressure to extract value from weaker hands.
But if the board turns dangerous?
You reassess.
The Key Lesson
AA is powerful, but it’s not unbeatable.
The goal isn’t just to play it fast…
It’s to play it smart.
So I’m curious…
When you get dealt Pocket Aces:
➙ Do you go aggressive immediately or do you play it controlled and try to build a bigger pot?
