Pressure - is your weapon
Mid stages of an MTT are where most stacks freeze.
Blinds 1k/2k. Average around 40bb. I’m sitting on 65bb. Two shorter stacks on my left, one solid reg in the blinds. This is where you print.
I’m opening wider than standard from CO and BTN. Not because I’m gambling - because stack distribution allows it. Short stacks don’t want to bust before pay jump territory. The reg knows that if he 3-bets light and I 4-bet, he’s in a high-variance spot out of position. So I apply pressure. Small opens. Good sizing. Fast decisions. No hesitation. You don’t need premium hands to build a stack. You need awareness. Who’s protecting their stack. Who’s waiting. Who’s uncomfortable. Most players wait for cards.
I watch people. That’s the edge.
