Standard way I lose on 888Poker
I am the guy betting in position, QQ pre-flop all in on the caller who raises initially. Based on their VPIP of over 70% I called a fish move out of position and was right, they had 5/6 offsuit flop hits and I am pretty much drawing dead (1 of 2 remaining Q's or J/J runner). I am kind of getting used to it now, even late in tournaments, but would love to know if anyone has any tips for 888Poker, it';s not really fun when the fish get the run of the river way more times than variance would suggest is possible.

Today's runner runner winner, pre flop all in from the 5's 8 2 Calls, AJ gotta call, AJ suited I'm in, K 4 suited is. a loose call at best if they have everyone covered, but no and they call regardless, the 5's fair call, the 8 2 suited the last hand that should be there. Flop comes, K 4 goes all in, 8 2 calls with bottom pair behind against all hands bar the one that just shoved and hit's runner runner, variance yeah, but you look at the number of hands they have played and see this is a constant fish, calling when behind the hitting out, is the algorithm that whack on 888Poker?

I've seen your name in a few freerolls today, do I need to check if I won a bad beat against you 🤣 I've managed to win a couple of tickets today, should have been 3 but I got blinded down to 2k from 27k whilst on a call! Most of the table must have been sat out or auto folding 😂
Sorry I just knocked you out in one, had the better starting hand though so shouldn't hurt too bad. I went straight out of the london satellite with A Q vs Q 2, dry flop, dry turn, 2 on the river, Cristofer43 if you leave player notes on all-in fish.

Regarding the first hand, it’s a bit unclear how the turn and river were played, but overall, it’s really hard to believe they had 56. The second one is pretty standard. It’s difficult to hold up against three opponents.
I get that, it's just the regularity at which the hand which has the least right to be there run's out the winner, like there's a donkey call reward system in play. I guess until I build up some bank I just gotta play super nit in the freerolls lol and hope the fish swim into my net rather than hitting runner runner 😀
Now TBF before I start the days moan, I have never deposited at 888Poker, only started playing again last week after 20+ years, have won a few tickets ($33 was best one) and have a $10 balance, but who doesn't like some cheese with their whine.
Not that much to describe really, folded around to me, smooth called hoping for the shipper next to me to ship, they raised 4x so I shoved after folded around to me. As expected nicely ahead, flop is dry, then what do you know jack on the end. To be doubly fair it is at least playing better than GG Poker today, made it to heads up in a sit n go, get called all in 3 times ahead 2-1 on all 3 loose to weaker hands then last hand my KA runs into and loses to Q's. First hand they were short stacked I went all in with pocket A's they called with 4 6 off got a 5 n 7 on the flop and the 8 on turn. Spat my dummy and threw my toys no mre GG Poker today thanks!
I'm not sure how the algorithms work in 888 vs GG.. but my streak in 888 is dead.. can't win anything to save my life. The only wins are bluffs.
GG in the other hand has given me decent wins with the flops holding on for me.
888 pulls me in with the flops and then kills me with the turn and river.
I've just taken a break from 888 now.
Haha I may have to join you, I thought it was just in freerolls that the game was full of and rewarded fish, but this morning I go all in with a pocket pair in a cash bounty game and get a snap call from Q 4 diamonds who promptly runs out a runner. Conversely last night every hand I was all in against a pocket pair with two overcards, they held up. It's official 888Poker is pretty much unplayable unless luck is on your side.
Moi_aussi, this is exactly the reason I self excluded from 888poker.
But on reflection, it’s just variance although at the time when you’re going through it’s so frustrating it drives you insane 🤪
I’m thinking position is the key to some of the issues that you mentioned. While you are undoubtedly playing the better hands in these situations, sometimes you need to let them go out of position so as not to be drawn in to committing all of your stack. Don’t get me wrong, I’m giving advice but I did the same mistakes myself.

Thanks, won $20.50 in tickets and 13c cash today, got one last $1 ticket to play, hopefully prize isn't another ticket as I need sleep! I've played around a bit with position but even when I'm on the button some mugs generally already gone all-in with 9 8 off. I'm mostly the victim of giving people too much credit for what they should be holding based on the calls they are making and betting based on this. I think I am guilty of letting emotions take hold sometime too, can be overly stubborn when I have seen someone dump all in and lose with rags 6 times in a row and re-buy then dump all-in on me, I need to remove these "pride" calls and should at least have more chips for when I catch em slipping ;)
You will bea them in the long run. Anything can happen in 1 hand, play that spot 1000 time and you'll end up the winner. Keep grinding bro, you'll get what you deserve
OMG, I can't win, late in a 10c tourney, I raise 4BB with A 9 suited, one caller, I make the Ace on the flop bet 50% of the pot, dude calls with nothing, I go all in on turn as is less than 50% pot, turn was a 3 which gives him bottom pair, calls with that, hits the queen on the river then laughs and celebrates it like they made a great play. Honestly I think it is the fact that these people don't know they are fish and celebrate their stupid suck out pots like it was a good play that has me beat.
First hand played, guy was already 4 x stack of everyone else from dumping all-in. Waited until I hit 10 Ace which seemed as good a way as any to get started before I got blinded out. The player name says it al luckyfish98. All in with his K 9 against two. pocket pairs and my 10 A, literally flop a straight, I have the Ace to the higher straight and the 10 which should have been a blocker but no finds the 10 in the deck on the flop. Apologies to anyone that meets me early in freerolls today, going all in with any old 💩 from here on out!
This was the hand prior when some fool called with 10 8 off A 10 suited? No doubt if I had called the hand before that they would have been sat on the nuts too, I'm lucky if I get half a hand in a rotation.....

13 hands without a playable one, my range is tight in theory to catch fish also every hand someone is all in and it's 4 ways. So I'm 2 hands away from being all in on the big blinds, I get pocket 3's, not great but the two fish seem to be having a donk measuring contest and are throwing in with 4 6 off etc so rather than risk coming up dry in text two hands I call all in after the donk to my right shoves (with 4 5 off). Lo and behold all-ins follow from the fish, 9 2 suited and the small blind, 800 from me 2180 from fish SB n BB, SB folds after 9 2 suited goes all in on flop having hit nothing bar a runner runner chance at a backdoor flush. I'm a favourite, pre-flop, admitted nominally without knowing what the SB folded, but neither of those hands should even be in at this stage in a tournament. That's two tourneys in a row I have been less than 10 places away from the money and been done all-in to avoid blinding out. Might have to start running the blind guantlet, the other hand that didn't hold was QQ against 9 rag suited that hit a flush on the river....
Next tourney of the day, rolling along nicely all table sat out bar one so we are alternating blind theft, he nearly times out debating doing something when it's my turn and am sat with AA but sadly doesn't. I raise in my next spot for blinds again sat on a monster AK suited, this time the idiot dumps all their chips in (well so I thought, clearly I'm the idiot ever expecting my better hand to hold up on 888Poker). I guess I don't need to tell you what happened next. I might actually sign up for their streaming program so people can watch how bad it actually is, see how long before they realise it's detrimental and take my affiliation away

Yep I'm done, I knock a guy out he re-buys, goes all in q 10 off immediately I have A 9 suited and a good idea I am ahead (dude was tilting) Queen lands on the river. Re-buy reward is real.

Here's my A 9 getting crumbled on the turn by K 9 to knock me out of the 20c mystery bounty, should have just sat out when got to 16k chips, better odds than playing and betting the best hand. Two bad beats in a row 16k to zero
Dream race plays like that all the time plays hundreds of tournaments any 2 cards like a donkey and keeps lucking out

PLO runs the same, 2 places off prize in 85c game 4 x BB bet BB calls with k 7 3 2. I am blocking their only decent card, I have an overpair to the board, yet they hit the flop and the turn and river stay dry. I am honestly fuming right now, played only top 30 hands, played them tight and some idiot calls with a handful of rags and gets lucky. 1 and a half hours of my life gone because someone called with dirt and as per usual hit.
I think what is most annoying is I had K 7 3 2 multiple times and it went straight in the bin unless in BB even when I was chip lead and in SB I binned it.
Poket pairs are the worst starting hand including AA unless you are going head on or hit a set. Best to play it slow and hope that the board has a lower pair to make some good use of it. That lower pair should not give the opponent a set. which in most cases does..
In position on the button it is in the list of hands to always play on most PLO sites. Conversely the hand in the BB is listed as never play (and you'd really hope not when raised). I'm not sure that the strategy was off, just that 888poker has the biggest number of fish and all in kings in the world. They went all-in on flop after my raise pre-flop created a big enough pot (pot-limit isn't enough to save you even). I just lost with pocket KK's after a 4x pre flop raise, then all in when low rainbow flop came. Still got two calls at >10% prob, the 10 8 off hit a straight after runner runner. If I'd have played it slow it would still have rolled out the same. You put in big raise you expect only decent hands to stick around, sadly on 888 because the fish reward rate is so high, they just keep on calling and hitting.
I do appreciate the advice, but by nature I play slow and trappy and try to control the pot, but when every flop is like community poker it just becomes a lottery :(
Raised the flop raised the turn what do you know, 2 4 is a better hand than 10 J that hit the 10 as top pair on the flop.....
Another hour of play ended by runner runner from the guys calling all-in with less than bottom pair. 888poker.com home of the runner runner suck out. For information I set mine with low pairs, I don't call raises with them generally and certainly don't shove them all-in, christ I only play them post flop if I hit of get a free card. Am I literally like one of maybe 5% of people that play semi-proper poker on 888?
Make of these two s/shots what you will, just bought in, all in first hand with K 9 off, up against AK but I won my ticket and they paid for entry so my 3-1 favourite soon goes to 95-1 dog. BigFish20 if you are on here, would love to know your reasoning for just joining a table and donking it all straight in? Just planned to re-but for another 2.20 if better hand held up?

Update, I just made the payout and had the pleasure of watching the big fish fall short by 4 places. A few sweating palm moments, all in with last 223 chips against a 27k stack, Paired the board and made a str8 on the river, then lucked into 10's on the next hand, thank heavens as I was already all-in as didn't have 1BB lol. Folded my way to 9th place!
Update 2: I played the $15 ticket like a zwonkey, but did win another 10c ticket and won through from that into a $1 ticket and am in the cash on one of the $100 freerolls. Weekends must be fishier than weekdays!
Update 3, or not apparently low pairs are still all-in hands against an over pair on a pre-flop raise, hit the trips on the turn and I'm dead again
Short stacked, don't want any limpers so all in 1,000 after the guy to my right raised to 400, everyone recognises two strong bets from UTG and MP apart from the idiot with j 9 off, I swear I ave some kind of sixth sense I was screaming at my screen for them to fold so I could isolate my man. Nope after a bit of debate decides J 9 off is good, and of course they're right.
It's gonna be one of them days, 4 places off a ticket, my A 9 Suited loses to A 9 off and they celebrate their bad beat by doing the old haha 500 times, real classy Michawin, then 8 9 spades calls my short stack all in with A 10 spades, and wins. Literally bust out of every tourney to a worse hand yet I've only managed to bad beat 2 people today and that was only to the extent of a split pot.
Think I'll stop playing there now, I actually benefit them as I continually bust out folks that re-buy until they finally hit some rank outsider against me.

10 seconds later different tourney. When I'm ahead I lose, when I'm behind I lose even though I only need the one card either end for the str8 or to get the trips that a pocket pair deserves more than the K J suited, missed your flush, have some trips.
Here ya go 17 minutes later same pocket pair holds up against all the overs. It's not isolated, literally never hit a set when I'm set mining yet get people hitting sets against me when they hold two different cards 😀
I raise all in with K 10 pocket 3's calls 6 9 in BB calls. Even after the 6 9 bets the river, so there's an overpair on the board and two other over cards the 3's still calls, so many fish. If the bluff had got through I'd have won the pot too, salty AF! BB was at 4k so I'd have been blinded out in 2 hands..
80% VPIP vs VPIP 15% Re-raising all-in pre-flop, to the man on the button with a better hand, activating fish reward. Had a run of covered hands hitting the low card A 10 suited v 10 6 off, have a set of 6's. A 10 vs A 9, 9's up. I am also restricted from all promotions even to the extent of not earning points at the stated rate on the app and not being able to spend the gold tokens collected for somehow managing to level up to 8 with no deposit and throttled point return for tournament play (should be 100 pt's per dollar of tournament fee/$3 rake I have won about a 100 dollar of tickets which should equate to 10K points at their advertised rate, yet I'm level 8 (maybe 1000pts, so looks like I get a 10th of what they give. I. must have written someone a snotty email at 888 or offended one of their employees in some way. They won't answer e-mails as to why I'm restricted from all promotions.
Anyhoo I always note up the fish so feel free to add TheDaz and cotebig to the list bout running 70+ VPIP 67% PFR (usually shoving 2 of every 3 hands).

I mean what are we playing here, community poker? The worse hand makes a straight, doesn't even have any connectors just lucks into it.

So get to the re-buy phase for the Nth time in a tourney today, dumped out by 3 bad beats in a row 9 5 hitting runner runner for two pair against my top pair, A 7 lost to J 9 and A 6 (four times today I have gone with two royals against two player holding Ace rag and each time they hit an Ace, the one time I'm one of two, dry board.
OMG 888poker needs to ban some payers, literally 75% VPIP guy arrives at our table, I have A Q suited throws all in, has 3-4 offsuit, thankfully my hand held!

Thought I was going to be raving about the standard of player on here after tonights freeroll, then this happens in final 6 please explain to me what your thought process was behind this play and why you don't feel like you just stole money from me?
All the money went in on the flop that they missed. They raised into me with nothing I raised all in and they snap called like they knew they were going to win with 3 5. I mean with 3 5 in your hand, a dry board (would you bet your tournament life on a flush draw?) you realistically aren't even beating a bluff. as board likely to end up with higher low card than 5....
I went out in 8th -$7 for free not too bad.Whole tournament is bingo playing. Just got fed up of the same 2 players raising every hand with any 2 cards and getting the usual 888 miracles. Watched that ghost gaffer call an all in with Aa with Q10 off an flop a straight. I'm getting like you if you can't beat them join them all in any 2 but no chance I only hit the board with bad card when I fold then flop a straight. You are right 888 rewards the donkeys
Haha you will notice the note on Ghost Gaffrer too, was basically to that effect. Raises with any Ace and flashes the ace when everyone folds like that makes a hand. There was an all in pre flop A 6 off against A 8, here's me only playing ace rag 1 in 4 times I get it and not raising it up like it was the nuts. But yeah people calling all in on draws just blows my mind, they must run real good to make plays like that, I had two overcards to the board once, backboor flush and double gutter straight, probably the max outs you could have, they never hit the guy that made a pair of 7's off the board won the hand.....
Definitely a bit of luck involved but they were chasing the flush draw. Not sure how much the initial raise was but they might have decided they are committed at that point
Initial raise 7k into a 10k pot I came over the top with 70k, they where far from committed, you don't raise your draws generally either, especially not when you have pretty much the lowest flush draw too. Can't believe the final table standard here is all-in on a flush draw. I genuinely feel like they have stolen money from me.
Yeah it's not a play I would make, unfortunate to lose there, can't do much more than note it down and hope the variance evens out in the future.
It's not really variance though is it, it is the standard formula all my hands above show, donkey move = runner runner reward. They had `15% of their stack committed when I shoved so that arguments gone too. I just want them to come and explain their rationale or if there wasn't any and they just fancied a gamble and I was the victim of 888Pokers donk reward mechanism to say so. I mean if they genuinely felt that was the play to be making and that celebrating rather than apologising was the way to go, I'd love to know why. I knocked two people out with bad beats, they will both testify I apologised via the sorry then bad beat emoji.
I guess it's a generational thing, my generation has class the rest don't.
Wait until the 11th hand to finally hit something even though it nearly blinded me out. Still get 4 callers to the river and 8 6 off wins, variance yeah, 10 hands of garbage I wouldn't play whilst people play and win pots with far worse hands calling all-ins etc. It is not a game of skill on 888Poker, who do I petition to get future cardmates freerolls exclusively on GGPoker, which actually seems to run true.
And yes of course there was no; bad beat - sorry, usual 3 hahas and a ship it.....
Tell me it's variance, I just went to add a note to igo107 and noticed they'd shipped again so watched the hand play out, He had K 7 off against K 10 off and pair of 6's, it really had to work hard to give him the win and make it look fair, think board came A K 7 then a 10 then another A pairing the board and making the 10 the same community card for both K's while the pocket pair suffered my usual fate while set mining and got nothing. That's something else I don't understand, I set mine with pocket pairs, 2's-7's, I noticed quite a few of you guys shoved with them in the tournament, is that normal now. I've also seen a lot of people calling up bets with them when there are 3 overcards to the board and calling isn't free/cheap is that normal now too?
I also see a lot more split pots on 888Poker than I have ever seen before and often the community cards are the hand, is that because there are so many to the pot each time and with very sub standard (like two cards 7 and below often not connected or suited)?
