Taking Shots at Higher Stakes
I wanted to share a quick personal milestone from my session on CoinPoker last night. After building up a solid bankroll buffer from a couple of sports betting wins this month, I finally decided to step out of my micro-stakes comfort zone and take a shot at a $25 buy-in tournament.
It was a complete psychological wake-up call. In the $2 and $5 games, the field is packed with passive limp-callers who will let you see cheap flops. The moment I sat down at the $25 table, that safety net completely evaporated.
The players here don't just call; they punish weakness. I got 3-bet light out of the small blind twice in the first orbit. It forced me to tighten my opening ranges and actually defend my button aggressively rather than just waiting for premium hands.
Taking shots isn't about playing scared; it's about respecting the change in table dynamics. I busted out just before the money, but the experience was worth every cent.
