What a GAME! England vs Mexico

Nothing could stop England winning the other night… here’s what they tried:

The Cartel 🤣 - Although unsubstantiated, reports circulated before the match claiming that the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) had demanded England deliberately lose to Mexico or face reprisals against the players and their families.

A stadium in the sky ☁️ - Estadio Azteca sits at an altitude of 7,503 feet - conditions many thought would be tough for the players, especially compared to Wembley Stadium, which sits at just 164 feet.

Fireworks, a band & car horns 🧨 - The night before the game, Mexico fans were filmed outside the England players’ hotel causing a serious raucous. They pulled out all the stops, blasting fireworks, music and car horns in an attempt to keep the players awake and throw them off their game. Better luck next time!

A storm ⚡️ - Despite being in Mexico ☀️, a storm on the day of the game threatened to stop the match. Even with a one-hour delay, England seemed to take the weather as a little piece of home. 🇬🇧

60,000 Mexico fans 🇲🇽 - England were surrounded by thousands of opposition fans, chanting loudly throughout, but it seems they used it as motivation.

The VAR team - The video assistant referee and both assistant referees were all Latin American…

A red card 🟥 - England had a player sent off, meaning they had to play with just 10 men.

Sabotage 🔦 - A laser pen was used to try and disorientate England players on the pitch.

But they still came out victorious. What a team. What a match. What a night. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
