When the Plan Backfires… in the Best Way Possible

And then came the final table…

Nine players left. Different energy. Different stakes.

This is exactly where I left off and where everything took a turn I never expected.

At that point, there was no room for hesitation. Every player left had fought hard to be there, and the margin for error was razor thin. This is where mindset became everything.

But here’s the part I didn’t see coming…

I made a decision that, looking back, makes no sense at all.

In the tournament, the rewards were for the top 7 users and 10 of us were at the final table.

The reward structure was distributed like this⤵️

Top 1–3 ➙ Split $250

4–5 ➙ Gets a particular NFT

6–7 ➙ Gets a different NFT

The NFT that were to be received by the (6 & 7) winners was more profitable that the NFT of the (4 & 5).

At this Point, I made the decision to give up at either the 6th or 7th position but didn't know the game has got a different plan for me.

When we got down to the last 7 users on the table, I started calling recklessly in hope to exit the game at this point but my opponents kept on folding their hands (they were being careful), but my chips kept on increasing.

When they finally decided to call, I had a stronger hand which knocked both the 6th and 7th user out of the tournament. At this point, I couldn't affort to lose at the 4th and 5th position anymore, then I made the decision to get to the 1st place instead.

I stayed calm, observed my opponents closely, and adjusted my play accordingly.

One by one, the remaining players dropped.

When it got down to the final two, the pressure was at its peak. Chips were moving back and forth, and every decision carried weight. Then came the defining moment a hand where I committed, fully aware it could decide everything.

And it paid off.

Just like that, it was over.

First place🏆

It’s hard to describe that feeling, the mix of relief, excitement, and satisfaction. Not just because of the win, but because I didn't even expected it

That night reminded me why I love this game.

It’s not just about the cards, it’s about growth, mindset, and moments like this where everything clicks.

Now the goal is simple: keep improving, stay consistent, and chase that feeling again.

Aiming for more wins ahead.

Huge congrats on the 1st place!

It’s hilarious that you tried to "lose" your way to a specific NFT and ended up winning the whole thing instead. 😂

Was the 1st place cash actually better than the NFT you were originally chasing?
