WSOP 2026 Rule changes

WSOP 2026 Rule Changes that are coming into affect.

Just making this Blog to bring awareness to the changes the WSOP are making.


I wanted to know your thoughts and opinions on how these changes will effect the WSOP for the good or bad.



Rule 35: Pre-Register means chips are on play from the first hand.


What this means:


Player's who pre-register there chip stack is put into play and blinded off from the start off the tournament.


This closes one of the most exploited loopholes of the WSOP when pre registered Player's stack where only in play from when the chose.




Rule 40: Cleaning up ClubWPT Gold controversies.


What this means:


This Rule comes in to action to ban third party promotions tied to the WSOP.


This is in response to the 2025 controversy from the Millionaire Maker where players playing under arrangements for promotions.


Which brought scrutiny due to it influencing the game play and could be a form of collusion and could influence descions in game.




Rule 80: More strict rules on intentional Stalling.


What this means:


Floor staff will be able to impose reduced shot clocks for players who try too stall around money bubble expecially. Also using time banks for stalling tactics for laddering is also now prohibited.


These are new tools for floor staff to try help improve the speed of the game at the WSOP.



New Rule/System: Rating Dealers via the WSOP Live App


What this means:


The WSOP app will need to be used to rate each and every dealer at the event.


This is another new tool for this year's WSOP. Let's see what effect this has in regards to making the events better.
