🃏 The Poker Players Who Survive Are The Ones Who Don’t Panic ⚽

Watching the World Cup has actually made me think about poker quite a lot.

You see experienced players like Messi and Modric still performing on the biggest stage because they understand one thing - the game is never over until it’s actually over.

That’s exactly the same in poker. A bad beat happens. You lose a huge pot. Your stack gets destroyed. A lot of players instantly switch mindset from “how do I win this?” to “I’m probably done anyway.” But that’s where tournaments are won and lost.

A great example from this World Cup was Cape Verde holding Spain to a 0-0 draw. On paper, the gap between the teams is huge, but they didn’t panic. They stayed organised, stuck to the plan, and gave themselves a chance.

Poker is similar.

Sometimes you’re not in the perfect spot.

Sometimes you’re the short stack against the chip leader.

Sometimes you’re the underdog.

But if you stay calm and keep making good decisions, you give yourself a chance.

I think one of the biggest differences between good tournament players and everyone else is how they react when things go wrong.

Do you think the mental side of poker is more important than actual strategy?!

This is the most underrated topic in poker content. Everyone posts hand breakdowns. Nobody talks about what happens in your head after you lose that hand.
