Age in poker - advantage or not?
Does age actually matter in poker?
On one side, younger players seem to have an edge. Faster to learn, more open to new ideas, more comfortable with modern tools and theory. They adapt quickly and don’t overthink as much.
On the other hand, experience is hard to replace. Older players have seen more spots, more swings, more different types of opponents. There’s a certain calmness and discipline that comes with time.
I guess poker is one of those rare games where both can work.
Young players bring speed and aggression. Experienced players bring control and stability.
In the long run, it probably comes down to who can combine both.
Curious what you think - is youth an advantage, or does experience win out over time?

Experience is better, but in poker I don't think its an advantage
Great topic! I think youth has the 'solver speed,' but experience has the 'emotional armor' to survive a downswing without smashing a keyboard. 🛡️
The best players usually have a young person's tech skills and an old soul's patience.
Do you think the 'poker face' is actually easier to maintain as you get older, or is that just a myth?
