Ahhh mate… that one hurts already 😩

You grind satellites, win your way into a $109, finally get a proper spot… pick up pocket rockets… and some hero decides 7-3 offsuit is the hill they’re willing to die on.

And of course… they don’t die.

That’s tournament poker in a nutshell.

The brutal truth is:

You want that call every single time. If someone is shoving 7-3 into your aces, you’re printing money long term. It just feels like daylight robbery when it’s your stack on the line.

What makes it worse in a $109 is you expect “better players.” But buy-in doesn’t cure ego. There’s always one player who thinks:

“He’s bullying.”

“It’s suited!” (even when it isn’t)

“I’ve got live cards.”

Or my favourite… “I had a feeling.”

Short term? It’s tilting.

Long term? It’s exactly why you’ll keep winning tickets.

You didn’t get let down by a stupid player.

You got let down by variance.

Big difference.

If you’re writing this as part of your poker blog again, I’d headline it:

“From Satellite Grind to 7-3 Glory – Why Aces Aren’t Bulletproof.”
