Half stacked by a fish that called bets on the flop and the turn and hit a straight on the river, literally holding jack until the river whereas I'm sat on two pair, I kinda knew they had made it but had to call in case they were getting creative after their big double up the hand before. Do you call your draws in the top 40? on two streets?
Final play got emotional, silly boy, fair play stacked me with my own tactics, they limped a premium pair. I made top pair with a decent kicker, shoved thinking they at best had top pair n rank kicker, ooopsie daisie, sneaky monkeys sat on cowboys, over pair and blocker to straight action! Good game but shouldn't have had the chips to stack me in the first place tbh fishing on two streets with air!
And now, the math, finally go out because of my own decision making and not the engine. Kudos and credit where due, whether I thought I was tilted or not they suckered me right in on the final hand. I'll stand my ground on the first hand though, that was pure fishing and awful luck to even put them in that position. They had just doubled up the hand before with AA against A10, we all know how that ended for me yesterday morning first hand of the day, soul stolen!
Anyhow I digress, the math, the point at which I thought I was sticking it to the man and let my chips rain into the centre, I was actually paying the man 4 times out of 5. The Q T into KK loses some straight equity and also with the suits being aligned they have all the flush equity and as we know the 4% runouts happen against me, me hitting a 20% one not a chance. Ooh just spotted the if we both make the same straight split pot, damn 21% equity is almost 3 to 1 if you play fast and loose af with the numbers ;)
Lessons learnt?
When we were on break I thought to switch to full shutdown ICM see if I could blind my way to the top 20, with hindsight, that was one of my better ideas and I should have stuck to it!
We live and learn, the princely sum of $4.77 is my current balance from this weeks freeplay!
Haha looks like I totally eradicated all todays EV with that one big bad call, although it is still trending upwards just!
