Every Hand Doesn't Need a Hero.
I used to think poker was about winning as many hands as possible. If I folded too often, it felt like I wasn't really playing. So I'd call raises with average hands, hoping something would work out on the flop.
It didn't take long to realize I was making life harder for myself. The chips I lost weren't because I was unlucky, they were because I kept forcing action when there wasn't any. Once I started folding more and waiting for better spots, my decisions became easier and my stack lasted much longer.
The strongest players aren't always the busiest players. They're the ones who know when to stay out of trouble and let patience do the work. Sometimes, the best move you'll make all session is simply folding and waiting for a better opportunity.
You don't have to play every hand to win at poker.
Patience is one of the most underrated skills in poker. Waiting for the right spots instead of forcing action can make a huge difference over the long run.
And it’s important not to forget to enjoy the game. Because if every fold feels like ‘I’m not doing anything’, it’s easy to start forcing hands. In reality, the enjoyment isn’t just in the action, but also in the moment when you’ve patiently waited for your spot and played it correctly.
