Four Days Ago I Got Absolutely Trashed At Poker

Not "lost a hand" trashed. I mean the kind of session where you start questioning your entire read on the game, every hand I played felt like the wrong one, every bluff got called, every solid, "correct" play got punished anyway.

Funny thing is, I've been playing for a while now. Long enough that I should've had some instinct built up by this point. Instead I sat there mid-session wondering if I'd actually gotten worse.

Then it clicked, the World Cup had just wrapped up, and I'd been locked in on that for weeks every match, every storyline, every prediction. My focus had basically been living somewhere else entirely. So when I sat back down at the table, the instincts were there, but the sharpness wasn't. Attention doesn't just switch back on because the tournament's over.

That's the part that stuck with me more than the loss itself. Losing money is fine, it happens. Losing because your head was somewhere else for weeks is a different kind of annoying but at least it's fixable.

So, over the next few weeks, I'm treating this like an actual rebuild. Not just playing more hands but actually reviewing why specific hands went wrong, getting my focus back where it needs to be, and correcting instead of just hoping the next session goes better by default.

Will keep this updated as the weeks go on. If a big event just fried your focus on something else too, you're not alone😂
