Give up live poker at the local
After this week’s drunken chaos at the local pub poker game, I’ve pretty much had enough. Honestly, I just can’t be bothered going anymore. I’d much rather sit on the sofa, chill out, and play on my phone.
It just feels like a complete waste of time trying to take the game seriously when you’re surrounded by drunk, half-asleep players who think they’re starring in some kind of gangster movie. There’s no structure, no logic—just chaos.
Poker’s meant to be fun, but also competitive. Right now, it’s neither.

Everyone sits down at the table with their own goal. For you, poker probably feels closer to work and discipline, which is why it’s frustrating right now. Maybe take a step back, reset a bit, and come back to a more comfortable environment with a fresh mindset
Sounds heavy Chris, but should imagine something you could take advantage of!
if you could be arsed that is. Definitely sounds like the best option is to stay home in your creature comforts and not be scanning waiting for some drunk to turn at the tables 🤪
Funny thing is, I actually prefer online for this exact reason. People think it’s more serious, but realistically half the player pool is probably doing the same as the pub—few drinks, TV on, barely paying attention.
At least online you don’t have to sit there watching it unfold in front of you. You just take advantage of it instead of getting wound up by it.
In a weird way, it’s the same chaos… just quieter.
