My Brother and Poker

Whenever I travel for live poker tournaments I meet up with my younger brother, we do it with the intention of winning and giving our best but a lot of times it doesn't turn out like that.

These weekends together are so few and far between these days that they usually become the 2 of us having the times of our lives exploring the local night life. I have so many stories that I tell my friends about of my brothers antics and some of the dodgy hotel we have stayed in are classics. I once had to throw away all my clothing as I'd brought home an infestation from some dive in Nottingham haha

The older I get the more I am valuing the time with my brother and realising he was my best friend the whole time, he introduced me to poker and we both love betting on the football and going to the horse races together. He has always been a rock in my life and never stopped looking out for me.

As you get older you get to do the things you love less because you have responsibilities, we used to go the races once a month but now with kids etc and living in different places its once a year if we are lucky as its a choice between racing and poker. The most valuable thing in life for me is time together with people you care about the rest is just stuff.

Its just another reason why I love poker so much, its brought us even closer together and its our thing together, we've shared every bad beat the other has received but then had miracles happen with whoever remains still in the tournament or with football bets or horses. In another universe we live together and gamble and play poker every day.

Anyways...

This was such a lovely read ❤️
It’s easy to get caught up in the results, the bad beats and the next tournament, but the memories you make with the people you care about are what really stay with you. It sounds like you and your brother have shared some incredible adventures together, both at the tables and away from them. Really enjoyed this one!
