One Poker Hand I Would Play Differently Today
These past few days playing poker has been interesting, but my mistakes just always boils down to the river and that's basically my fault cause I've been making some poor decisions lately.
One of these mistake was when I was holding K♠️K♠️ last night at a tournament.
This is the type of hand that will make you feel confident before the flop even arrives.
I raised preflop, got one caller, and the flop came J♦ 9♠️ 4♣️.
I was feeling good, so I bet. My opponent called.
The turn brought the 7❤️.
I bet again, and he called without much hesitation.
The river showed a 9♦.
I fired another bet, convinced my kings were still good. But my opponent raised, and suddenly, I had a decision to make.
Instead of slowing down and asking what hands could beat me, I let my attachment to the hand take over. So I called.
He turned over 9♣️ 8♣️ for three of a kind.
Looking back, I don't regret betting for value on the flop or turn. I regret failing to reassess the situation when the river changed the board and my opponent showed serious strength.
Today, I'd pay less attention to how strong my hand looks and more attention to what my opponent's actions are telling me.
