The best to enter???

When is the best moment to enter a tournament ?

This is a question I find most interesting, and would really appreciate some feedback on this subject…….

I do myself enjoy starting a tournament pre-reg and playing the full tournament if possible. I think it gives you a greater sense of achievement if you make it to the final stages and ITM or even better the FT!

I have tried joining tournaments at various stages of late reg. I think I have achieved the best results if I late reg at sort of midpoint between 70-50 BB.

That is when I joined the $3 tournaments on GGPoker and finished in 3rd place for $1082.57

But I am still undecided on the best time because I have had mixed results from so many. I know I don’t really enjoy last minute late reg. it’s a bit of a bingo call if you know what I mean!

I do tend to stick to them two entry points of pre reg  or late reg mid point.

Do you have a specific preference when to enter a tournament or does it vary depending on the Poker site?

Oh, and when your entering a tournament do you have a pre-tournament ritual?

My ritual is to set myself up on my chair with a drink, headphones on, Spotify, pick a playlist and away we go!

That hopefully, is me for the duration of the tournaments. If I can run good!!!

Look forward to your opinions Cardmates……..

For me it's all about finding that happy balance between avoiding the early carnage and not being in short stack mode from the off. Some tourneys make this easier than others (regular deepstack vs hyper 25BB start).

Yes I know what you mean. It’s easier to avoid with deep stack but can be more lucrative,  because players are willing to put their chips in more because they have more to spare 🤪🥳👊

Question, do you play the first orbit any different when joining a tournament from the off?

No I just beam up, Scottie! 🤣🎃
