The pre-game run down
I'm very much on the spectrum so clearing my head is not really ever happening. So, I just try to keep my routine consistent and remind myself of the only constant I need to observe for my gameplay to be effective, zero emotion, you do not have to take down every or everyone's bully (immediately 😜).
I'm usually double parked with two 1/2 litre thermal mugs full of builders orange yorkshire gold, a few pre-rolls of my prescription and snacks, I'm blessed with one of them bodies that doesn't put on weight fortunately. I mix up the entertainment, if a sport I like is on I'll have the livestream in the background, last round of WSL coming up soon, then it's snowboard season for Europe and the Americas, if not maybe something informative or some music :)
Then it's eyes down, luck in. Minimize the table between hands and playback the hand history so can build a mental picture of who is doing what, what patterns if any exist etc. It's way quicker than watching the real time clock dragging (fully support this BTW, whether it be for ICM, playing back scenarios in your head to work out where you are in the hand or it's oldest tradition as an eff you).
